Description of new Innovative 10th Anniversary Features:

In celebration of our company's 10th year anniversary of incorporation, we are pleased to showcase new superior technological features in our newly launched InnGate3 (IG3) gateway:

  1. In October, we highlight our new breakthrough "Volume Control" module.
  2. We will also allow our customers to preview the new "1-Tier QoS" feature in December (as a precursor to the full featured "Multi-Tier QoS" optional module to be launched in 1H 2010.)

What exactly are these new innovative features?

The Volume Control optional module provides 2 key benefits: (1) Volume Pre-Paid business plan and (2) empowers hotel customers to implement what we terms as "Network Fair Use" policy.

1. Volume Pre-Paid is a new type of charging plan where the hotel can charge the guest based on total volume of data used in their hotel HSIA network. This is a new unique feature found only on ANTlabs' latest IG3 gateway. With this feature enabled, the administrator can specify the volume limit associated with a volume-plan. When the guests are on this plan, they can continue to enjoy network and Internet access as defined by the policy until they hit the volume limit specified. When this happens, the administrator can configure the policies on the IG3 to logout the guest (so that they purchase another plan), or throttle the bandwidth to a lower speed without logging them out. This is extremely useful for hotels that want to offer complimentary or different priced tiers of plan but want to prevent free or lower-paid plans users from monopolizing or abusing the network.

This new Volume pre-paid plans are also the cure for hotel customers where their ISP charges are billed as per volume usage. The benefit is that it will allow hotels to monetarize free internet access by encouraging guests to upgrade to a paid or higher price plan after having a taste of the good network experience.

2. Next, the same Volume Control module can help to implement "Network Fair Use" policy. From a management perspective, hotels are always at the mercy of heavy users who use P2P applications or engaging in high-bandwidth applications such as video streaming or downloading large files in the background. This penalizes other more considerate users who simply check emails or do lightweight surfing for information searching. Using our Volume Control Module, users on the same tier plan can also be throttled to lower bandwidth when the heavy usage users (who already had their fair share of the bandwidth) hit a certain volume of usage. There is a direct correlation to heavy bandwidth users and their total volume used. Once the limit is reached, the heavy users can be throttled to a lower speed, thereby reducing their impact on the bandwidth so that other users can enjoy the better internet experience. In so doing, the hotels also directly prevents a single or small group of users from spoiling the guest experience with the network, and also reduce the hotel internet costs as they may not have to over-provision to cater to a small group of users.

The "1-Tier QoS" optional module is another new innovation in the area of bandwidth management for our gateways. This new feature on the IG3 allows the administrator to specify different QoS control settings for the LAN and WAN segment separately. This provides great flexibility for the administrator to configure complex QoS rules.

1. WAN bandwidth QoS - equal allocation on congestion
This feature allows the Administrator to configure a particular upload and download bandwidth on the WAN connection to the Internet. When there is no congestion on the Internet bandwidth, all the users will get the bandwidth they requested for. When there is congestion, the Internet bandwidth will be allocated equally to all the users who are requesting for data concurrently.

2. LAN bandwidth ratelimit or QoS - equal allocation on congestion.
This feature allows the Administrator to select 2 modes of controlling the guests downstream access experience. One mode is bandwidth ratelimit where each user has a configured upper limit for both upload and download bandwidth based on their purchased plan. The other mode is QoS - equal bandwidth allocation upon downstream congestion. In this mode, the Administrator will configure a maximum LAN upload / download limit. When there is no congestion on the LAN segment, all the users will get the bandwidth they requested for. When there is congestion, the LAN bandwidth will be allocated equally to all the users who are requesting for data concurrently.

When these two features are used together, the Hotel Administrator can configure very flexible and complex QoS rules to carter for individual Hotels needs.

For example, for hotels that provide complimentary access, the Administrator can configure QoS - equal allocation on congestion for both the LAN and WAN segment to provide the best surfing experience for all users equally in the network. For hotels that provide different ratelimits for the downstream LAN segment based on different tiered access plans, the Administrator can now configure QoS - equal allocation on congestion for the WAN segment to ensure that heavy usage by a few users will not result in negative surfing experience for the rest of the users in the hotel.
