The Need NUS system administrators encountered 2 problems, firstly a diversified client base (students, lecturers and visitors) was creating support issues as some NUS users had difficulties installing and configuring the necessary client software for authenticated network access. Secondly, the system was not well suited to provide visitors with network access due to the lack of necessary user accounts as well as properly configured software for the short-term visitors’ laptops.
The Solution ezXcess Service Gateway enabled authorized account holders the ability to gain access to the network (via RJ-5 wall jacks or Wi-Fi) without the need to install and configure complex client drivers or software. The solution also integrated with the existing Microsoft Windows 2000/2003 based Active Directory providing AD login for both wired and wireless connections. This seamless integration with existing network infrastructure resulted in a faster roll-out.
