The Need In September 2002, SingTel started a pilot project, called the "Outdoor Wireless Surf", which consisted of 150 Wi-Fi hotspots in Singapore. SingTel wanted to boost its service offerings by providing its customers seamless and easy Internet connectivity at various locations such as popular F&B outlets - Starbucks cafés, Burger King outlets as well as country clubs and community libraries in Singapore. The Solution ANTlabs' ezXcess Service Selection Gateway (SSG) Standard provided SingTel with a proven, zero-configuration solution that offered instant and hassle-free Internet access, a sound infrastructure for AAA (Authentication, Authorisation and Accounting) services, and the means to allow different billing models, all at the same time. The ezXcess SSG Standard is a reliable, transparent and feature-rich connectivity solution that also meets the stringent security needs of mobile and wireless users in Singapore. Customer StarHub The Need StarHub wanted to provide wireless broadband connectivity to its customers in Singapore. However, the Telco provider required a network connectivity solution that was proven, easy to deploy and could provide instant Internet connectivity. The Solution Using a combination of ANTlabs' ezXcess Service Selection Gateway (SSG) Standard and ezXcess Service Gateway Enterprise solutions, StarHub successfully enabled wireless broadband services at its wireless hubs including those in Singapore Changi Airport, Suntec City and at more than 20 Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf outlets. With the ezXcess Service Gateway, StarHub customers can log on to the Wi-Fi network securely and easily, without any need for configuration setting changes, thereby eliminating the need for additional technical support. The ezXcess Service Gateway's advanced roaming technologies also allow StarHub Internet subscribers to roam internationally via iPass and GRIC smart diallers. Click here to view press release. |
