ANTlabs launches IG 3101; Enhances Network Resiliency
ANTlabs recently released IG 3101, a full-featured gateway that is aimed at letting service providers manage user accounts and bandwidth for small guest networks such as those in boutique hotels, 150-room properties and 3-star hotels. This is an upgrade from the 2013 IG 3100 release and it features LAN bypass, which improves network resiliency.
LAN bypass
This feature is a fault-tolerance solution that allows the gateway to continue providing Internet access to downstream clients in the event of a unit power failure. The LAN and WAN ports of IG 3101 will be bridged to ensure essential network availability, hence provide business continuity.
The bypass will also be triggered when the power button is switched off. It takes approximately 8 seconds to take effect and during this period, the downstream clients will not have Internet access however them may recover access in as little as 10 seconds, depending on your network configuration. When it is powered back on, the users need not re-login. However, users that are no longer downstream may have to login again as the gateway has previously detected that they have departed the downstream network.
